Things I Really Shouldn't Have Learned the Hard Way

1. Not to run with scissors.
2. Clean windows and screens are not actually things that you can walk through...regardless of the fact that you can't see them.
3. Just because you can put off an entire semesters worth of papers until the last day of finals and turn them in at 8:00 that morning doesn't mean you should.
4. Cornmeal, water, canned mixed vegetables, and canned chicken noodle soup do not, when mixed together make a delicious chicken pot pie. The whole thing looks, and tastes awful.
5. The white creamy stuff that people put into mashed potatoes is not mayonnaise.
6. Catching a softball without a glove can be painful.

(Added to the list today)
7. While spraying air freshener, you shouldn't walk forward into the cloud of air freshening spray. It's not pleasant.

  1. oh heavens, the scissors one made me cringe.

And I find it very hard to believe that you made something that didn't turn out perfectly.

  2. Things I learned: if you're using a recipe from a website like Allrecipes.com, it's important to read the written reviews, not just the star rating. A dish calling for a total of 7 Tbps salt is probably not going to be tasty...but probably everyone else already knew that, and could save you the trouble of throwing out nasty salt-sauce-Indian-food stuff.

  3. I was a bit surprised that you didn't put the story about carving a butter cow... out of your finger.
