Takin' Domesticity to a Whole...'Notha...Level!

In the vein of saving money, and still having some convenience, Today, I made my own bisquick mix. This one is seriously easy friends. Here's the recipe:

8 cups flour
1 1/4 cups powdered milk
1/4 cup baking powder
1 T salt
2 cups Shortening

Mix dry ingredients, then cut in shortening. Store in a cool dry place, makes 11 1/4 cups of mix.

To make drop biscuits from this mix, you just mix 2 1/4 cups mix with 2/3 cup milk and your favorite seasonings. Then you cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes.

Also, I took some of the powdered milk mix and used a recently finished milk gallon to make more milk. We used to do this all the time when I was little. I didn't really like the taste of the dry milk by itself, but when you pour it over sugary cereal, you can't really tell the difference much. Maybe I'll use it for baking.

Also, I was planning on taking pictures of a casserole that I was making, as well as a few other things I did...but I forgot our camera at Nate's parent's house again. I didn't even notice until Mariel told me about it. Oh well. You'll just have to wait for the exciting nail polish story...which really isn't all that exciting.
